Dr. David Afram

A fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has been board certified in obstetrics and gynecology since 2009, Dr. David Afram is also a fellow of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists Surgeons.

Dr. Afram’s medical journey began when he attended McGill university in Montreal, Canada, where Dr. Afram obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in biology. Upon completion of his medical degree, Dr. Afram moved on to George Washington University Hospital, where he finished his medical residency training and where he also received the teaching award for Council on Residents Education in obstetrics and gynecology.

A former assistant clinical professor at the West Virginia school of medicine, Dr. David Afram has various medical areas of interests which comprise of: high risk obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries. With 20 years of experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology Dr. Afram has helped countless women.

When Dr. Afram has some free time, he takes pleasure in spending time with his family, and playing tennis and soccer. Dr. Afram also takes joy in reading with special interest in history and international affairs, he is fluent in multiple languages including English, Arabic & French.

Dr. Jacqueline Placette

Dr. Jacqueline Placette is originally from Massachusetts where she attended Northeastern University and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Physics. She obtained her medical degree at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her residency training was at Phoenix Integrated Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, a combined residency program from both St. Joseph’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center. She performed a clinical fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Inova Fairfax Hospital’s Women’s Center where she also was an assistant clinical professor at Virginia. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, mountain bike riding, gaming, and reading science fiction.

Deborah Thomson, C.R.N.P.

Deborah Thomson received a Master’s degree in Nursing with a Nurse Practitioner Certificate in Woman’s Health Care from UCLA in 1983. Since that time she has worked in both a woman’s clinic and a private obstetric and gynecology practice. In 1990, she joined our staff as an OB/GYN, NP. Deborah is AWHONN Certified. She is married and has a son and daughter. The Thomson family resides in Clifton.

Deborah Thomson received a Master’s degree in Nursing with a Nurse Practitioner Certificate in Woman’s Health Care from UCLA in 1983. Since that time she has worked in both a woman’s clinic and a private obstetric and gynecology practice. In 1990, she joined our staff as an OB/GYN, NP. Deborah is AWHONN Certified. She is married and has a son and daughter. The Thomson family resides in Clifton.

Erin Lawson, PA-C

Erin grew up in Northwestern Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for her Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Neuroscience. She relocated to Washington DC where she earned her Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University while working full-time enjoying the complexities and discoveries of basic science research in the field of Endocrinology. She attended UMDNJ-Rutgers for her Physician Assistant education, graduating as the co-valedictorian of her class in 2002. After attending Nova Southeastern University in Florida for a fellowship in Family Medicine, she enjoyed working in field of Family Medicine for nine years before transitioning to her first practice, Women’s Health, where she has practiced for the last four years. She is passionate about women’s wellness from adolescence through menopause. She believes in establishing long-term relationships with her patients to help understand and achieve her patients’ long-term wellness goals. She is interested in general care through all phases of a woman’s life, family planning – whether it be contraception or pregnancy planning, hormone imbalance including polycystic ovarian syndrome and menopause transition, pregnancy care and general gynecological problems. Erin enjoys living in Manassas and spending time with her husband and young son.

Susan brings almost 40 years of invaluable nursing and healthcare experience to her responsibilities at Capital Women’s Care. As our Practice Administrator since 2001, she is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of our practice, including quality of care, staffing and business operations. After growing up in Northern Virginia, Susan attended the Helene Fuld College of Nursing in New York City, graduating in 1979. Following graduation, she worked at New Rochelle hospital in New York and Fairfax Hospital in Virginia before joining a company in 1988 that eventually became Capital Women’s Care. Susan and her husband reside in Manassas, Virginia where they enjoy hiking, biking and spending time with their 5 grandchildren, family and friends.
