What prenatal services do OBGYNs provide?
Prenatal care is one of the primary responsibilities of the OBGYN. These professionals will monitor your baby throughout your pregnancy. We do this with state-of-the-art ultrasounds which will help us learn about your baby’s development. We also provide genetic testing and screenings which can help you learn about your baby’s health during gestation. These tests are elective, but we do recommend them. We can even provide cell-free DNA testing, carrier screens for any inherited diseases, nuchal translucency scans, and second trimester blood screens.
For higher-risk pregnancies, we can also offer amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling. If you wish, we can give you a referral to a specialist in higher-risk pregnancies.

What postnatal services do OBGYNs provide?
After your delivery, your OBGYN will be able to provide postpartum exams for women who had a vaginal birth, or postoperative care for women who had a cesarean section procedure.
For women who delivered vaginally, we offer regular checkups, including the very important 6-week postpartum checkup. For women who had a cesarean delivery, we will check your incision 1 week after delivery, and we will provide the 6-week checkup too.
